I find it is ridiculous and silly for DAP continuosly "confuse" when it come to the matters of "Songkok". Almost immediately after 12th General Election, the first dilemma for DAP appointed state assemblyman is "Songkok" issue. Started with DAP Perak, Then DAP Selangor and now Johor DAP.
Didn't DAP realised malays willing to vote for DAP in last GE not because they believe in DAP version of Malaysian but malays are willing to give opposition a chance to play a bigger role regardless who you are. From positive point of view, meaning, Malaysian for the first time really want to test non-racial approach in politic.
Didn't DAP realised majority malays today still openly accepted some changes which "impossible" to be accepted in the past? DAP have Speaker in Selangor assembly, Deputy speaker in Perak are Indian, also in Perak out of 10 exco - 6 are from DAP, Penang you have a smooth CM takeover post etc... Malaysian have been so patiently to let opposition have a try no matters its work or not for the period of 5years.
Why is so sensative for a chinese to wear a songkok?
1. "Meludah ke langit akhirnya jatuh ke atas muka sendiri"
For the past, DAP have been playing around this "songkok" issue. I must admit some cases DAP bring up is really a racial issue need to be addressed. Example like Compulsory wearing songkok in school, University or government function which is not attended by Sultan or King. But by the same time, DAP have been over champion this "songkok" issue and become a haunted things for every chinese to wear "songkok" on top of their head. Chinese are almost have the perception wearing a songkok is equal to "masuk melayu/islam". DAP are to blame and equally racial in this matters.
I'm sure DAP senior politician know "songkok" is not a political tools in front of official function attended by Sultan or King. "Songkok" is a official dress code. It will be a disrecpect to the ruler if you don't wear it. Or make it simple, if you don't want to wear official dress code, just don't attend it or just don't get elected as assemblyman.
2. Malays cultural & custome
From a neutral point of view. I look at "songkok" as part of malays cultural custome. It's Malsy traditional wearing and part of Malaysia cultural. I as a chinese in Malaysia accept this cultural custome and see nothing wrong if i want to wear it. Chinese are smiling accepting the non-chinese wearing cheong-sam when visiting their house during Chinese New Year but cannot accept even themself wearing any malays custome when Hari Raya Haji time?? Malaysian way or Chinese way??
3. Don't they have any important things to do?
Malaysian are in hot water after government increase the petrol. Now we are monitor closely when others essential items will increase their price and how we can adjusting our lifestyle. The Petrol issue is the most "unpopular decision" by Pak Lah. Whether we want to accept it or not, its up to own view but the fact is we must face it.
When the whole nation in serious talk about Life in malaysia, DAP Johor assemblyman are facing "crisis" whether want to wear the songkok or not!!! Again i must say, we will accept if opposition can't do anything or can't give a best solution in current administration for a period of 5 years. Or if they only manage expose case by case what went wrong with the last government... Its acceptable. Coz what opposition capability to do will be judge if they manage to win again on 13th General election.
But I really can't stand they keep focusing on the Stupid question...Whether can or cannot wear "Songkok"!!!
P/S: If sultan or Agong say that all DAP politician will be given Datuk or Tan Sri title as appreciation to them deny the BN 2/3 majority.... Guess what they will do???

RM625 fuel subsidy a one-time payment only
When the Prime Minister’s Office released the full announcement on the new petrol and diesel prices for Malaysia as well as the new subsidy structure last week, it was mentioned that the RM625 subsidy would be issued for cars (and RM125 for bikes) with road tax renewable between the 1st of April 2008 until the 31st of March 2009, with payments to be issued via postal orders from July onwards.
At that point we were unsure on what this meant as it seemed to indicate that the RM625 subsidy was a one-off thing only.
Second Finance Minister Nor Mohamed Yakcop has cleared up this uncertainty on the subsidy, clarifying that it is indeed a one-time payment only, and not a yearly thing as some had hoped. Anyone who is planning to cheat the system and try to profit from a yearly subsidy scheme by stocking up on old cars that are nearing scrap-metal condition can forget about it now.
It is still not clear at the moment whether cars and bikes with engine displacements above 2000cc and above 250cc respectively would have their road tax cut by RM200 and RM50 permanently, or just for one year as with the fuel subsidy.
Price controls are supposed to be lifted in August, which is when fuel price controls are to be lifted and allowed to be determined by market rates, free of government restrictions. The government will maintain an RM0.30 per liter subsidy on whatever the price is, which means if the market rate is RM7, we will pay RM6.70 per liter. With crude oil prices touching a record high of US$139.12 a few days ago, its anyone’s guess what August’s fuel prices will be like… and I shudder to think how much it’ll cost to refuel next year.
I guess compared with our per capita income, cars are now officially a luxury and thanks to our pathetic public transport system, a necessity at the same time! We will have to find alternate ways to cut our fuel bill without relying on public transport, such as minimizing travel and car pooling.
UPDATE: Datuk Shahrir Samad says the current prices of RM2.70 per liter will be maintained until March 2009, so there will not be any lift of price controls in August 2008. However looking at the government’s flip flop style of dissemination of information, this intention may change anytime in the future without warning.

Today I just come across the same comment from my friend who say He will never trust any announcement come from Minister Level as given the government’s flip flop style... He only listen to the PM announcement.
