Thank You Cheah Chee Kuan

Cheah Chee Kuan had lost the State Seat Jalong in Malaysia 12th General Election 2008. The information has reach me as earlier as 9.00 PM, eventual not official. Yet it is not surprise to me as i have received another information as earlier as 8.30 PM saying that BN have lost Penang! Then one by one sms saying who and who have lost.

How cheah chee kuan have perform in SUngai SIput all this while is totally ignore and forgotten by sungai siput voters. For me Sungai Siput need people like cheah to be represent them as Sungai Siput couldn't attract youngster to stay & built up their own career in sungai siput.Go and ask the old man in sungai siput, do they miss their son or daughter. Do they wish their children spent more time and come back built up business in sungai siput. Cheah Chee Kuan is only 33 years old.

I still remember asking cheah chee kuan where he want to continue his career after graduate from University. He say he will having his practical in 2 years time before going for lawyer license and he choose Ipoh, Perak. I was fortune as i was graduated in 3 years program (First batch when Malaysia higher education change degree program from 4 year to 3 year). I still remember suddenly all the paper was cramp in like sandwich just to rush and meet the 3 years deadline.

After years of employment, my income & situation is much better than cheah as he is still under practical where income are as low as RM 1,200.00. I ask him again later in sungai siput mamak stall, does he plan to go Kuala Lumpur? His reply are same..he want built his career in Ipoh and Sungai Siput as he believe got opportunity.

For Sungai Siput youngster, if your parent have not inherit any business for them, 99% will go to work in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Singapore or even Japan. Therefore i sometime feel, doesn't cheah will feel bored? Frankly he is bored as not many schoolmate are in sungai siput after secondary school.

Cheah luck is finally come when he was offer the job of Lower Judge in "Mahkamah Magistret" in 2000. Although he have rejected it and choose to open his law firm, he is the first chinese being offer the post. His business in law firm not running very well till entering 3rd year of services. Then he decided to open branches in sungai siput. Till today he still travelling from ipoh & Sungai Siput daily.

For me i'm very respect his descision to stay at sungai siput. He not only showing to all youngster that SUngai Siput although not "life" as big City, it still can offer a choice for youngster to succeed.

I only know cheah involve in politic somewhere near 2005/06 when he told me he had joined GERAKAN. He started free consultation session for sungai siput resident at bilik gerakan jalong every once a week. His strong point is easily mix around stranger as he got lot of sense of humors. In STPM time i have notice this, as he got very close relation with malay & indian. Most of them are still in touch with cheah.... but i have not call them for right after STPM.

This time election are "blinded" by emotion and act of anger towards BN government. People just totally "blind" to judge who should they choose to represent them in government, who they trust & who have been contributing the society all this while. As one of my friends joke, this time election if we put a goose against BN candidate, the goose will win. People are just want to teach government a lesson. What a wrong timing for new face like cheah to make as casualty. Thats also mean malaysia democracy are still very young and inmature. Malaysia election is still depend on voters emotional to decided government.

Cheah Chee Kuan, although you have lost. Friends are still supporting you in future. Don't give up as life must go on. Thank you for brightening sungai siput youngster career path, thank you for serving the community all this while, thank you for reconnecting all our primary & secondary & STPM sungai siput friends and lastly thank you for knowing you.
