Hiking Bukit Kiara via Taman lembah Kiara : Rain over me
Bukit Kiara is a famous place for TTDI and Bandar Utama residents to have garden walk, hiking or bicyle trails. Its like Bukit gasing for PJ residents. As i was searching for some light hiking venue in Kuala Lumpur, Bukit kiara come into the picture. However little that i know i was actually always at bukit kiara all this while.
After searching information bout the place, i decided to give it a try on one fine saturday. As there is actually 2 venue to go for hiking or walking, I choose the one infront of the school at Jalan abang haji openg.
Direction to Bukit Kiara:
a) In google search for WOMEN'S INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, Jalan Abang Haji Openg
Taman Tun Dr Ismail 60000 Kuala Lumpur
b) The entrance is just further down from wisma Wim, Directly in front school
I bring along my sons as my friend who suppose to go with me give "an aeroplane" at the wee hours. While driving, I was worry it might be rain very soon as the sky getting darker and experience some raindrop at mid valley area.
When i reach Bukit Kiara/Taman lembah Kiara, i didn't expect it will be so jam with car and i have to park my car at roadside backward until nearby Wisma WIM.
This area has a huge and beautiful recreation garden. As i dont know hong long i'm going to take to hike bukit kiara, I already decide to come here again to cover the garden scenery.
I dont know where the entrance for hiking as first time come here. However i saw there is special bicycle trail beside the car park and decided use the route first.
Less than 15 minute going into the trail, i heard siren sound loudly from the golf course resort. First i dont understand what is that for, but less than 10 second i got it. Thats indicating to the golfer that rain is coming and make an exit.....
Gosh.... i feel the rain drop heavily and i know must exit the place asap. This is the first time my son getting completely wet under the rain yet he was extremely happy to experience that. It is very very heavy rain. Not even 2 minute both of us are 100% wet. The place getting darker and visibility getting shorter. The dangerous is the water start running down at the main path.
When we reach the car park, i decided continue walk directly to the car. Both of us are all completely wet, so no point stop here and wait the rain stop. The people around are looking at both of us like enjoying fashion show.... they must be thinking..."Aiyo pity to that little kids"
Luckily i got extra cloths in my car. I ask my son take off all the wet cloth and wet shoes, quickly help him dry up as much as possible and give him my extra shirt. For me, i only change the shirt and driving back with wet pants!!!
Certainly i will be back.

Low,
you post really makes my day. To see more and more people actively utilising the Bukit Kiara biking trails helps keep the place preserved. It has been shrinking and degraded for more than 10 years. Choosing the cool shady forest trails is the wise choice, unless one thinks tarmac cool and scenic.
Further all the trails were designed and build by bikers for bikers. It's not vertical hiking for sure, but we bikers roll and bounce over rocks and roots every day and every hour. Considerate hikers welcome, runners, hashers, any non-destructive non-motorized sport. There's maybe 30km of trail to be had.
The trails you walked (based by photos) we call KL MTB Carnival, Park Connector and Coronary Bypass. Did you rest at the sofa I carved into the soil to relax and see golf? I was cleaning up that trail after the very same rainstorm Sunday so it's even nicer today and I emptied the sampah.
Thanks for depicted the wooden signs and such. Takes me hours to carve that hardwood.
Sg Siput - nice town with one much steeper climb, eh?

Hi there,
I did noticed the carved sofa in front of golf view. Yet not even got chance think to relax on it, thats the placei heard the siren sound and rain start drop down. Next round i will sit there to have a picture.. hahaha.
Gotta come here few times to truly explore the place. Sure got lots of bikers here. Got beautiful garden too...
Just hope it wont face the problems bukit gasing facing now... The housing development is already started..Sooner or later bukit gasing will be gone.
Although Sungai siput is surrounded by mountain, we got nothing to hike except the lagendary feng shui landmark...lion hill.
salute for your works and passion for the environment at bukit kiara.
