Tee Keat Advocates Use Of Sedition Act Over Racially Sensitive Remarks

PORT KLANG, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- MCA vice-president Datuk Ong Tee Keat said Mon he advocated penalty under the Sedition Act for members of Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties who make racially sensitive remarks.

He said such action was necessary to ensure that the remarks by the individuals were not reflective of the stand of the parties they belonged to.

"If a party wants to show that the remarks were not reflective of its stand but represented an opinion of the individual (party member), it must discipline the member so as not to give a wrong picture to the people," he told a news conference after a visit to Westports Malaysia, here.

Ong was asked to comment on Gerakan's intention to suggest to the BN supreme council that leaders of BN component parties who utter racially sensitive remarks be hauled up under the Sedition Act or other relevant laws.

Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon had claimed that a racially-sensitive comment by a politician in Penang during the Permatang Pauh by-election recently had eroded the Chinese support towards the BN.

Asked about the issue of money politics in MCA, Ong said he often touched on the subject because it not only spawned an undesirable political culture but also jeopardised the integrity of the leaders to be elected.

"I touch on political corruption because it is something that we should discard because the practice, when applied to garner votes and support, will destroy the party," he said.

Recently Datuk Ong Tee Keat been going all out projecting "dare to speak" image. No Doubt this is actually his style for the past but it's more significant after DAtuk Chua Soi Lek critics him on blog, and dare Datuk Ong speak the same to UMNO.

Both heavyweight MCA politician are really master in politic. The main point targeted to each other is actually the weakness of both. Dr Chua related to moral issue (Sex Tape) and Datuk Ong related to "Not dare to speak at UMNO".

The "figthing" will be gear to climax as soon as Dr Chua announce his decision to contest President MCA post. Although until today Dr Chua had not announce his intention but all his political movement clearly showing that he will go for No 1.

Look like our Malaysia political will struggle until year end, First, September 16 test. Second, MCA General Assembly and the most important of it UMNO General Assembly!!!
