Truly Malaysian coffee shop @ New Hollywood Restaurant, Ipoh Perak

It has been 14 years i haven't come back to this unique restaurant. Perak No 1. Yes this unique restaurant can be really consider as Perak No 1 chinese operator food stall but majority is Malay customers.

Restoran New Hollywood has been in business for more than 20 years. Its unique as most of his food stall are chinese operated but majority customer is malay. According to my friend who live at canning garden the story was begin when sultan of perak, Sultan Azlan Shah visited the place for meals. After Sultan Perak had the meal there, he declare the restaurant was halal. ( I dont know whether its truth or not, it was story from people staying there)

I still remember when i first visited the place, most of the stall did not have so call halal certificate. But in Perak the acceptance for this kind of restaurant which serve no pork and the owner can be trusted, the malays friends really dont mind to walk in. Others than this restaurant, you can see a lots of chinese restaurant have malays customer having tea, coffee or bread in Ipoh.

The food here is consider okay but not that really fantastic but the environment is bit different as you will surrounded by majority malay friends ordering and eating Yau Char Kuey, Char kuey tiew, fried lobak, chicken rice, prawn mee, wan tan mee, western food, much more.

You will never find a restaurant like this in KL. If yes please do let me know coz i don't come across this type of places.

It's not Sultan Azlan, it was the Sultan before him, Sultan Idris Shah II.
