A homecoming delayed

By Kalimullah Hassan
2008/04/27

I ASKED a friend of mine some months ago how he had managed to convince his daughter, who had studied in England and wanted to continue working there, to return home. He said he told her to come back, work in Malaysia for a few years, and if she still felt strongly about working in the United Kingdom, he would not stop her. It's been seven years and she has remained in the country, he said.

It seems like just a while ago that my wife and I started sending our children overseas for studies. In just weeks, our eldest would have completed her first degree; by year's end, our second would have done the same.

There have been many nights when I cannot sleep and I walk into their rooms, look at their photographs, clothes, beds and get soppy.

Since the three older ones left, one by one, we have longed for the time when they would finish their studies and come home.

But over the previous year, we had seen signs that perhaps, they might want to stay on, pursue new dreams and hopes.

Last week, I braved myself and called my eldest in London. She is such a bubbly person, cheerful always; caring, hardly a nasty word to say about anybody. More of us should be like her.

She has grown into London. She loves bookshops and plays; museums and art; poetry and writing. She knows where the cheapest groceries and halal meat are sold.

She still yearns for her masak lemak cili padi and sambal and mainly eats at home, though, on occasion, while cringing at the prices, she ventures out to one of the Malaysian restaurants in London.

She is doing fine, she said, and exams are in May after which she is coming home. Her husband, who has completed his Master's, is working now and may not return with her.

Will you work after graduating? Well, she said, perhaps it might be a good idea to finish her Bar in London.

One more year? It was so difficult to draw her out because she knows how much we wanted her to come home. "Yes, if you don't disagree," she said.

And after that? Again, a drawn-out silence and another suggestion: "Do you think it would be a good idea if we work in London for a few years before we come home?"

I heard the words I did not want to hear; yet, I had anticipated it, thought about it, and knew that I could not stop her and her husband from deciding on their own lives. I couldn't do what my friend did. I had to say yes, why not? If that's what you both really want.

"Let us think about it again," she said, "but we would really like to be able to stay on. Would you and mama be okay?"

Okay? I don't know. I dread the 13-hour flight to London; it pains me to pay so much money for air travel; and for taxis and food; I dislike the cold and the unpredictable weather; and I think that I would go mad if I had to live there for more than a week.

But yes, I said, we would be okay; and yes, we will visit them whenever we can.

Her mother seemed to have known already. This mother-daughter relationship is different. They discuss things and only tell me "when the time is right".

"Your kids don't like what is happening to this country," my wife tells me. Like what, I ask. And I stop her because I already know. An embittered country, vicious and vindictive personalities, always a divisive battle somewhere which draws out everyone and divides them.

My second girl is a contrast to her sister. She is sharp-tongued but a kind-hearted soul who will let no one put down her country, her family and her friends. While she has grown fond of Melbourne, she misses home and would come back, I thought.

Not really. She is thinking of going to London for her Master's, she says. Or maybe work in Hong Kong for a year or two because Uncle David has offered her a job in his company there.

"You always go to Hong Kong, don't you?" she asked me. Yes, twice, maybe three times a year for two, maybe three days at a time.

"Ah," she says, "when I am there, you will come more often and you will stay longer, right? After all, Hong Kong is so near - only three-and-a-half hours away, right?"

What could I say?

Maybe my son will come home. Though he is just into his second year and has another three more to go, surely he misses home, I thought.

"It's too early, Pa. Let me decide when the time comes," he says. "I miss all of you very much. But I am not sure yet what I want to do after graduating."

Our youngest, the only one we managed to persuade to stay on until she completed her A-Levels, already plans to leave at year's end to do her degree in London.

She wants to do diagnostic medicine. What's that? "Don't you watch Dr House?" she asks. "That's what I want to be."

I accept, with resignation.

I left home when I was 18 and ended up working in Johor Baru, which was then probably as good as being in London because the bus trip to Penang, where my family lived after moving back from Pengkalan Hulu, took 16 hours. No highways then.

My wife left home at 12 for boarding school and, save for short holidays, did not go back until she had completed her degree overseas.

Did our parents feel the same when they were letting us go? Looking back, I know they did. Each time I went back, my mother would ensure my favourite food was on the table - dhall, pickled green chillies and deep-fried chicken.

And each time I left, she would stand at the door until I was out of sight. That's the same thing we do - keep watching long after the kids have passed through immigration gates and gone beyond our sight.

But we are both glad that our parents let us go, to learn, to see new places and to build our lives as we wanted. Had I not gone to Johor, I would never have met my wife and that would be my life's single greatest regret.

My wife copes better with these things. She believes that they will find their way home. Perhaps she knows better. I have come to accept that a mother's love and relationship with her children is different.

Perhaps, it is encapsulated in this email which I have kept for a long time. Here's how it goes:

A MOTHER'S LOVE

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on.

After his mum dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00

For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00

For going to the store for you: $0.50

Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $0.25

Taking out the garbage: $1.00

For getting a good report card: $5.00

For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00

Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy knew that memories were flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me: No charge

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you: No charge

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years: No charge

For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead: No charge

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose: No charge

Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is: No charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were tears in his eyes, and he said, "Mum, I sure do love you."

And then he took the pen and wrote in great big letters: "Paid in full".

The lesson, I suppose, is that you will never know how much your mother means to you till you become a mother.

A father, too, if I may add.

I already know it's tough to let go, but I have learned to live with it. Still hurts, though.

I know the children will be all right.

My one hope is that, unlike their migrating forefathers, they remember that, for better or for worse, Malaysia is home - not London, not Melbourne.

And, just as life has its ups and downs, there will be a better Malaysia one day.

RTM "Live In Blog" with Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin

".....Those who want to conduct an talks should know what is the meaning of preparation. RTM hos is definitely not prepare , not known what & who Raja Petra is about and lots of funny things can sense during the interview. A laughing stock...The hos is just get all fire up by Raja Petra!...."

Raja Petra has appear at RTM as guest speaker in Sunday program 8:30pm to 9pm on a show called "Live In Blog". He is the second person invited after A.Kadir Jasin.

This suppose the most exciting and most expectation event in RTM & Blog history. Yet to the dismay it is just an anti-climax show & a M-16 non stop firing of lecturer from a Guru (RPK) to the hos Hasim Abu Haniffa. I sincere advice RTM should elect a more experience and knowledge Hos such as Johan Jaafar...at least..... to give talk with Info "monster"..Raja Petra.

Those who want to conduct an talk's should know what is the meaning of preparation. RTM hos is definitely not prepare , not known what & who Raja Petra is about and lots of funny things can sense during the interview. A laughing stock...The hos is just get all fire up by Raja Petra!..Hos should do more homework next time. Not because Raja Petra is such a "firing" person, it just the hos talk all "bullshit" question which same as a kinder garden children ask a professor question.

However it is good and brave move by RTM as national media station....but please next time do it more professionally by DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!

Hishammuddin and the Keris Panca Warisan

Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin

".....What actually provoke people to against it because the "CONTENT" of speeches....."

Things seem getting back to RIGHT way in Malaysia Politic after "political Tsunami". Today Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin have openly apologize for creating "Kris" drama which provoke non-malay fear & displeasure. Yet one must understand that the tradition of the Kris weaving in UMNO assembly is not started by Hishamudin, It is Najib Razak who started it.

I really don't understand that why mostly all UMNO youth chief must "do something" in creating race tension or race bashing whenever got General Assembly. It is really unnecessary as all the action is only further splitting society. DAP been long time accused playing racial card yet i don't see any different in UMNO.

UMNO is a big brother in BN or Malaysia government. Just like US and the rest of the world. Whatever & whenever they talk, most of the people will pay attention. Therefore the "Status" is something been recognize willing & unwillingly by Malaysia society. If UMNO can lead a good example, others race should be no problem accepting UMNO leadership & cooperation.

I personally not feel threaten by the "Keris" issue. What actually provoke people to against it because the "CONTENT" of speeches in the assembly after the "Kris" ceremony. It is not really bout the "Kris". Yet when you related the speeches with the prior "Kris" ceremony, you will feel threaten & imagination run wild. If the "Kris" ceremony been organized in harmony yet serious & respectful way, then follow by the "non-racist" speeches... I don't think it will create emotional stress to non malay.

However I must salute Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin for bravely admitted the mistake and swallow the pill. It is not easy for a leader to do that.

Yet sometime reporter are really stupid and senseless. Why keep on pressing Hishammudin on a question whether the "keris" tradition will continue in future! As human who have brain, the reporter should senses Hishamuddin is doing something "RIGHT" yet very sensitive, effected his credibility & he haven't answer his most royal supporter. Give him a chance and give him a face saving way out.

The reporter question is reminded me TV3 coverage on Highland Tower tragedy. That time was a live coverage. Musa Hitam son was one of the victim and searching is still underway. TV3 reporter was so stupid that question Musa Hitam asking are he sad about the matters!!!!! What you expect Musa Hitam answer???

Datuk Lee Kah Choon quits Gerakan...You Should Do this earlier.

Datuk Lee Kah Choon

Finally The man in the spotlight have decided call it a day. Quitting Gerakan Membership and become normal "citizen" hoping let the issue rest forever. Can it be so simple Datuk Lee?

You are member of Parlimen before, top post in Gerakan, Public figure and before General Election, you are one of the three candidate for Penang Chief Minister. All the past is belongs to you because your party leadership, party members and "rakyat" especially Penang people have given you the trust. And now you are saying you want "wash hand" and become "normal" citizen. Then shouldn't you have to give back all the support you received by purely become normal citizen? Meaning You must give up ALL and not cling on the post offer by Penang government!

Sometimes this is the Ugly side of politic. You use all the surrounded support & influence to add in your own reputation & credit. Then you take all this trust to climb higher. If success you are "hero" of your people. If Fail then you see where you are..and hoping to grab something before too late.

My advice to him is for the goodsake of your name, can you read & refresh how Datuk Lim Ah Lek pledge to resign from all post. Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek currently are appointed in some important post in GLC company yet he still supported by MCA member & public because... He didn't betrayed party, members & public trust to him.

BBC Hardtalk: Mahathir Oh Mahathir

"a man very unpopular trying to do something right. He is making use of the system in the worst ways!"
~Dr M talked to Stephen Sackur on BBC Hard Talk bout PM's promise of judicial reforms

Just after I post up congratulate to PAK LAH bout bravely making ACA independence by end of year, the latest Mahathir attack is back haunted!

Below are the link to most recent Mahathir interview with BBC tv program name Hard Talk. I must admit i still very Fond Mahathir way of answering question...not just entertain but also very cocky!

Here & here

Honestly, Most of us are greatly admirer to Dr M as we are agree that this outstanding & paradigm type of leadership human being will never found again for the last & future 50 years! He is just most outstanding & visionary.

First Book I bought in my life is actually Dr M book: Malay Dilemma. I bought it in Singapore as that time Malaysia hard to find this book.

Yet it is not something new as Mahathir attack on Pak Lah been started since cancelation of the causeway bridge Malaysia-Singapore. Thousand of theory why Mahathir so desperate want PAK LAH out and so angry bout PAK LAH. The real reason will be another mystery to be unlock by Dr M himself only after Anwar sodomy cases.

Malaysia Need Mahathir? Yes and need it dearly. But not in this way. Although we have great leadership to offer from Dr M, We must face reality that the world must go on, Malaysia must go on, new leadership must be bring in to keep Malaysia future generation alive. What ever happen now will have both good and bad effect. What i believe is it will be good to Malaysia Future.

Yes our life is very difficult today, everything UP except our money and....yet it is PAK LAH fault? For me it is because all the controlling system in Malaysia all this while is no more can resist world wide influence and penetration. Call it Globalization or The World is Flat, the fact is world wide political & economy been going a uncertain trends.... I also believe it is work of Conspiracy of powerful capitalis. Was it a fact or PAK LAH really so impotence...i leave it to you.

So talking bout PAK LAH weak and listen too much to Khairy might be truth. But i choose to see what have PAK LAH trigger in Malaysia political system. All the bad side of PAK LAH is actually born another Good Side for Malaysian.(Just think it deeply how is Malaysia now compare before)I always believe what PAK LAH did in this few years will only can feel the effect 20 - 30 years later as he is seeding Human capital development.

Recently, Pak Lah even being compare to Mikhail Gorbachev, the leader credited with carving open the Soviet Union with sweeping reforms before being unceremoniously forced out of power..i love if it can become true. Here

PAK LAH has inheret a very tough, very proud, outstanding, total in control, monopoly & stern policies government from a very rare outstanding & visionary leader, Dr Mahathir. The successful of mahathir is actually made whoever succeed him facing uphill task and yet no credit will be recognize to the later. Thats why PAK LAH have keep perform his job like hell...the standard is just too high.

Malaysia ACA to be made fully independence by year-end!!

This is great. Just Great.

Pak Lah have announced that ACA malaysia will be given independence status by end of year. This is his second brave and "right" thing to do after "Regret" on Juridicial mayday 1988.

People have been urging PAK LAH to do the "Right" things after 8 march General Election... Now this is what i see as the "Right Things". So maybe now "they" will panic as PAK LAH is taking their advice to do it RIGHT.

So far the score for PAK LAH in 2008 is 2:0

Here

Gerakan Lee Kah Choon : I can be any Party member.

Former Gerakan deputy secretary-general Datuk Lee Kah Choon

Today CM Penang, Mr Lim Guan Eng Had announced that former Gerakan deputy secretary-general Datuk Lee Kah Choon have been appointed as director of the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and chairman of the executive committee of InvestPenang, a PDC subsidiary.

Here & Here

Chinese Press have full detail all the observation on Lee kah choon reaction. One of the main question is whether he is still Gerakan Member? Lee Kah Choon reply "I can be any party member".

Is what Lee Kah Choon doing now is wrong? Political Right and Morally Wrong.

Politically whether it is really "help or serve" people of penang is not important. Important is cling on some post which can satisfied your ambition. Maybe he have foresee Penang will not fall back to BN at least 10 years time, that why he swing to new government. If not by the time Penang return to BN, he might old enough for retirement. So in politic, he want to fully utilise his ability & opportunity.

It is also good for Penang People. The new Government is actually no experience and no vision on how to admin penang. It is a fact as Penang under Lim Guan Eng is still have nothing to show how to bring penang to progress since 8th March 2008. No plan, no vision, no manpower, no experience and not get use to become government. DAP been in opposition mentality, critism, objecting and see anything wrong for the past 50 year. Suddenly today in power...mentality not switch fast enough.

Morally deeply wrong. He been a Former Gerakan deputy secretary-general, Parliment Secretary of minister etc in current Malaysia government BN. Accepting the offer is same as "Murtad" or "khianat" own party & government. No matter what you say after that will never be same again as you will be label as "morally wrong people". And he is chinese will make it more difficult. Why? Coz chinese is hate to be call as "running dog" nor accept a "running dog" leader.

Sore Loser...My dear Samy Vellu

Samy Vellu

Recently i really don't know what is in Samy Vellu Head. First after election & massive lost for MIC, he still want another last term as President MIC after hold the post for last 30 year!
And I also don't know why no MIC members come out and object it...another proof as why Mahathir had said samy never bring up issue ... coz samy too often kill off issue whenever got people raise it? The only people can save MIC and make it relevent so that can make a come back next general election are none than its own member!

Then he suddenly say want government to release the 5 Hindraf lawyer. For What? To please with the indian community? To look good? As a government servant and most senior government executive why don't he speak the truth to public why the hindraf detained under ISA.

First i totally against Hindraf demand on government & lies they made outside malaysia. The demand is just unrealistic and racist. Can malaysian accept if chinese malaysia made demand to the same things? A indian friend joke to me that chinese and malays should stay away from hindraf coz we already have "something" in malaysia.. but indian must participant coz they dont have "anything" so nothing to lose! For me the hindraf is more about frustration and political motived. Now Hindraf successed press government favor to indian community yet it take away some Malay & Chinese rights also. If Hindraf is genuine, what they fight for must be benifict to all malaysian not just one community.

Secondly, why samy didn't disclose that Police & internal security already have proof the linkage between Hindraf & extremist Tamil-Tiger. Yes i was told that the government have found out the direct linkage between the two party which certainly will bring in element of extremist in Malaysia society. It is a national security issue! Some might not agree in this point but i do believe as it is not political fact, it is a fact from Interpol & Police of Malaysia.

Thirdly, the release of the Hindraf certainly will happen. Malaysia is no more practising detained a person from young and after old only release them. The release of Nik Aziz son is one of the example.

Forth, If Samy really mean to release them, why dont do it before election? Making a turning point now is just as good as Samy think what the govenment do was wrong and what Hindraf demand is right! So samy want to join opposite now?

AFter Hindraf now he say the demolition of temple is the cause of why MIC defeat & Worst he say he will get "outsider" help if govenment dont want help indian!

Here & Here

Gilakah Samy! Your statement is just same as saying if government dont want help indian community, better indian malaysia balik india & cina balik china. Where your patriotic Samy? IS government didn't help or you didn't help your own community?

This is the government you fight together for the past 30 year. In good time your egolistic is as high as sungai siput-Lion Hill. Now you lost, you act like a sore loser. Why dont just admit all the indian problem is actually coz by your inefficiency, inability, your dracula control with gangsterism & your money to shut the issue out.

I don't think MCA have done enough for chinese either, but i believe MCA contribution to chinese community is significant and very important all this while as they have play their part.

So Samy, if you still talk rubbish instead of start some soul searching & concrete plan for rebuilt confidence for MIC, you are finished as well as MIC.

Malaysia Judicial Renaissance : "New Life" after tonight!

Some important point in the Malaysian Bar Council dinner at the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi

"...I can say with a clear conscience that I abided and will continue to abide by the principle of separation of powers, leaving the matter of justice to the judiciary. And yet the legacy of 1988 haunts us until today..."
"..I am pleased to announce to you tonight that the Government is proposing the setting up of a Judicial Appointments Commission to identify and recommend candidates for the judiciary to the Prime Minister. .."

"...the Government will initiate a review of the judiciary’s terms of service and remuneration...."

"...the Government would like to recognise the contributions of these six judges to the nation, their commitment towards upholding justice and to acknowledge the pain and loss they have endured...................In recognition of the contributions of the six outstanding judges, the Government has decided to make goodwill ex gratia payments to them."

"The government has set the ball rolling. "

Although the government had not openly "apologize" or regret in the 1988 event, What Pak Lah have done tonight is just magnificient & historical. If we transform of what the government have promised, it is more than just say "sorry". The government not only have admitted the wrong doing in a sense but also taken postive step to correct the mistake of past and building up again judiciary pride.

Pak lah, you have rightly done what should be done. Thank you

And also not forgottan the man behind the screen and most credited figure...De facto Law Minister, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim

Sungai Siput - Controversy Kampung Tersusun / Taman Kledang Utama muslim cemetary...Part 2

"....I think Gerakan not only give the resident as helping hand, they also give the new MB a relief!"

Entrance to the "cemetery's area

Beside the main entrance already got vege & fruits plantation

Tansmission Tower

Currently it has four "resident"

Last Month I manage to visit the controversy muslim cementery area which reported create some tension around the residents nearby. Although i am against the approved area of the cementery, it is pity also to see th muslim graveyard is in "terbengkalai" state. Sometime really don't know what in the Authority mind in the first place. This area definitely not suitable for the cementery.

We are dealing with the dead. Can authority respect the living one and also the dead one. The muslim cementery is not in a "graveyard" state at all. No sign board, no fencing, no maintain or gardening etc. It more like just dump the dead and put up the Liang Lahad on it. It is really unrespect to the dead.

According to the latest news, the cementery will readjust as below;

Before

After

I hope the news is truth. However as malay proverb "Lembu punya Susu, Sapi punya nama". I believe that will happen to Gerakan efforts on it. Much of the effort will credited to opposition party rather than Gerakan.

In the end, we are looking toward solution for sungai siput resident. I believe it is not really matters who will credit for it. Yet one things for sure. If the agreed new alignment is not approved yet, The new government will be in very difficult situation as New MB Perak is from PAS! and he is also incharge of Islam & Land matters!

I think Gerakan not only give the resident as helping hand, they also give the new MB a relief!

Life just gets started for Cheah Chee Kuan after election

Cheah Chee Kuan at Ipoh Office

".........before I left he ask me: “Can you change back your voting station to sungai siput since your are sungai siput boy?” ....."

On 28th March 2008, I have travel back to Ipoh, Perak on works related matters. I also wanted to visit cheah this time as curious how he is getting on after the election. I meet him up in his Ipoh office nearby “Super Kinta” @ Yik Fong Complexes.

He was handling phone call when I reach his office. I was curious as when did cheah have an office at Ipoh center. I only know he have office at Sungai Siput & Silibin, Jelapang.

Since when you have an office here?

I have three offices all the while but decided to close down the Silibin, Jelapang office and maintain only Ipoh & Sungai Siput office

Why?
No time to look after. Especially after elected as candidate for DUN Jalong. Just can’t find more time handling Legal business and by the same time dealing with political affair & community matters in Sungai Siput. So the best way is centralize the Ipoh operation to just one.

Any Post mortem by your party about the election?

Main cause is the “Rakyat” want to have change. These wind of change have blowing so strong that most of the voter see all the candidate bearing Barisan Nasional logo is not worth to be given a vote. The sentiment & emotional have taken up most of the voter voting pattern.

Is your defeat mainly cause by our beloved MP for 30 years; Samy Vellu?

Can’t say it is the main factor but the effect to results is definitely there. I do campaign together with Samy Vellu in some places but mostly we are not in a same place.

Base on the counting vote results that night, samy vellu vote is actually losing in most of the Jalong Seat polling station. However when the Lintang vote count in, Samy bound back and lose only bout 1,800 vote.

How is the feeling being running the campaign for 13 days?

Being a candidate sometimes very “innocent”. There are some cases where i was about to approach and introduce myself to voter, I been ignore and sometime scold without any reason. Just because I was representing BN.

I have heard that you been left many unsettle issue by the previous ADUN?

In politic or in settling matters, we can’t always keep both party happy all the time. Some voter are angry because feel being ignore but the real issue is maybe it just need time to come with the conclusion from various agencies at state & federal government. So I do still believe Dato Chang have done his best for the community all this while.

Are you aware of the klebang utama muslim grave yard case?
Yes. When the resident brings up the case to us, we have done some finding. First the project was not approved recently. It been approved back to few years time. And when it was approved few years back, Dato’ Chang was not sitting in the Exco meeting as he was oversea. Only last years they start to operate.

We organized dialogue with residents to settle the case. Yet the residents are accusing us being the one behind to support the muslim grave yard issue which is totally untruth. It is islam religion issue. How are we qualified to support or going to oppose it? And don’t forget by the time it approved, the area are not develop into residential area. It is just an empty land.

Although the residents are angry and some act emotionally by joining DAP, We have try our best to solve it. Latest as I know the grave yard area will not be stretch until housing area. It will not happen where the resident front view is grave yard. We have managed to negotiate that.

Now the MB of Perak is from PAS & also handling islam & land exco post, Do you think he will cancel the grave yard approval?
No. it is a sensitive issue for Muslim especially

Will you continue service Sungai Siput?
Definitely Yes. I still believe the voters will calm down & think seriously, is the candidate from DAP now really is the one voters wanted as representative for them & Sungai Siput? I just need to work harder from now on.

Saw any of our Methodist Friends in polling day?
Yes. Methodist friends were really supporting me not only by morally but also in action. Not forgotten friends from STMAA also.

*****************
That’s some main point I able to ask cheah after election. Yes He will go on. As to further emphasize his determination to continuing serve sungai siput, before I left he ask me: “Can you change back your voting station to sungai siput since your are sungai siput boy?”

Quiet embarrassing I quickly reply Yes I will do that.

So for those still have parents & relative in sungai siput, hope you all will change back your polling station before next General Election.

Dam Dissapointing....4 : 2

Arsenal Are out of champion league.... I believe as well as Premiere league title.

Bad Mood

Arsenal Please don't dissapoint me again

Yes, I'm Arsenal fans since 2003

Tonight, Arsenal have a huge battle to fight if don't want another year without silverware. Their opponent is Liverpool and playing at the anfield stadium. Liverpool might not very impressive in Premiere League yet they are natural Champion League winner contender.

After 2 disappointing draw at Arsenal emirates Stadium with liverpool, Arsenal must repeat what happen in San Siro when they beat AC Milan with unexpected victory.

Sometime I just hate Arsenal as they always lose in a Supposed win game or very crucial match. Yet they also like to surprise people by winning very very unexpected game and almost impossible to think they will win.

My Wish of tonight results: Arsenal 2 : Liverpool 1

This is really Insult to Army & Agong

Buckingham Palace
Agong Palace - KL

For me I really feel insult for what reported in newspaper today. Malaysia are coming up some RM 1.9 Million to send our army to do "Sentry duty" at London.

First As a reserves army before, I totally against the move. Our patriotic is just to country name Malaysia & Our king name "DYMM Seri Paduka yang di pertuan agong". We are not suppose to be other person guard or doing national services to that country.

Second, It is really insult to see our nation which independence for the past 50 years are still keen to have "colonial" minded. The move sending army performing sentry duties etc in our "grandmaster home land" is just a coward act showing we are once & still a slave to the British colonial....yet our minister are saying it is a recognization!!!! If really want recognition for army; just actively participant in UNESCO peace keeping activities or join in any army international activities to show your best ability.

Third, How it will helping to improve our army?? Beside learn how to wear smarter, iron cloth harder, polish shoe, keep cool and tactic for keeping standstill posture more longer???

Fourth; RM 1.9 M is not a small sum. If really want to learn how to guard better, why dont just invite trainer from UK? Maximum 2 to 3 will do.. Still have much money left for buying more horse & uniform!

Fifth: I do think malaysia royal army guard hat are more good looking than Buckingham palace guard!

(The Sun) PETALING JAYA (April 7, 2008): The government’s decision to spend about RM2 million to send 122 members of the Royal Malay Regiment (RMR) to serve "London public duties" for two months has come under fire.

“It is a waste of taxpayers’ money,” Federation of Consumers Association vice president K. Koris said today.

“We should be looking at protecting our country instead of thinking about sending our troops to guard Buckingham Palace,” he told theSun.

“We have more pressing issues here and they could use our army to look at guarding our borders from illegal immigrants instead of spending money to send them to guard Queen Elizabeth.”

He said the illegal immigrant problems in Malaysia is a growing one which should be handled and resolved by guarding the borders.

“There is no logic at all for them to go over there and waste so much money,” he said, adding the whole idea is a joke as there is no need for the team to go all the way to England to learn when they can do it locally.

“This is another example of the government wasting taxpayers’ money, when daily expenditures are rising for the people,” he said.

He said the government could have used the money to subsidise certain goods or help the poor.

He was responding to an announcement by Malaysian Armed Forces public relations acting director Kol Fadzlette Othman Merican that the 122-member team will leave on April 16 for a two-month tour of duty at a cost of RM1.9 million to cover the insurance, attire and flight tickets.

The team will be guarding Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, the Tower of London and also Windsor Castle.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who is also the defence minister, defended the decision to send the team as a recognition for Malaysian soldiers.

He said it was a recognition for the soldiers’ credibility, as the Chief of General Staff of the United Kingdom, Sir Richard Dannat, had been impressed with them during a visit here recently.

“He saw our capability, the way our soldiers marched, so he proposed that we be given this honour. I take it as an honour for our Malay Regiment. It is not about guarding the palace but about the recognition. That is important,” he said.

Subsidy Technology to combat Fuel subsidy

"...If government want to continue thinking strategy solving what petrol mostly used by malaysian to be subsided and not about the technology factor of the engine, we are just using the money in a wasteful way. "

Today NST Frontpage is about the subsidy of petrol issue."Rich to pay more" which quote our new Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad;

"We are subsidising a form of petrol that is of a high quality, but I was informed by Proton that a majority of cars can use Octane 95.............

.....The price of Octane 99 will still be subsidised but to a lower extent...

".
......Shahrir said the government was expected to save more money by allocating most of the subsidy into a single type of fuel, Octane 95, as opposed to subsidising two types of fuels, Octane 92 and Octane 97"
Which type of Fuel to be used in our car is basically depend on the car engine (mainly separated in Diesel & Petrol).

In malaysia we still have a carburetor engine (Proton Saga/Iswara) running on the road. Mostly Wira or Waja car are just fall into "STEP 2" category. Where Western country only allowed "STEP 3 above" car on the road. Meaning what produce out of the car (Engine Performance) will be the star factor how is your car valued in international. (Is the ministry want Proton to continue produce inferior engine car??)

If government want to continue thinking strategy solving what petrol mostly used by malaysian to be subsided and not about the technology factor of the engine, we are just using the money in a wasteful way.

Technology like "NGV" should be subsided in all malaysian public transport vehicle. It's cheaper and more environment friendly. Yet of course it have to solve 2 major problem: Allowed others station operator operationg NGV & Keep upgrade the technology with better performance & lower cost

Other option is diesel engine technology. Yes the same fuel that used in the big lorry, van or buses. In Europe, the diesel car performance have been proven more efficient & lower cost and still better environment friendly. The key point is the reinvented Diesel Engine technology. These day more than 45% of European car are using diesel engine.

How about hidrogen power car & Oil Palm technology? Don't forget we are biggest oil palm producer in the world! Why not pushing out the research or technology faster??

Also how about the public transport services?? I personally rather take public transport for my daily work if it really efficient & convenience rather than using my money for car petrol & maintainence.

If government want to fully utilise the subsidy, then why still want subsidise the Octane 99 fuel which themself say mostly used by luxury car? (How much is consider luxury car??? 100k above or 150K or 200 K) If really luxury, then JUST DON'T SUBSIDISE!

Yesterday certainly is one of my memorable day. I was just back from very heavy travelling schedule. I have travel from KL to Muar to Batu Pahat then KL. After reach KL immediately meet friends for a business discussion. Back home 9.30 Pm with half death already.

However suddenly my phone ringing and on the screen i can see the caller is Aizuddin, my rakan bangku sekolah. He was in KL for routine 2 week, once meeting with HQ. He wondering if i could come out for a drink. Well although half death, this is something must not miss in a lfe time. So I drive out meet him at Pantai Dalam.

Like very very usual, Aizuddin respond was same with thousand of my friends especially long time didn't met up one... "Kamu sudah gemuk lah low" thats the opening word from Aizuddin. Ha ha ha ...but i also say " mu pun dah kembang dah.." We shake our hand firmly. Then go for a drink at road side stall.

Aizuddin voice is like "orang tua" already..serak and batuk batuk kecil. Surprisingly he is very calm and look like a very experience people. Not like school time, He was Head perfect and 100M sprinter...Aggresive.
